Birth Experience

Initial Interview
This is a no obligation meeting.  It is a time for us to talk about what your vision is for your birth and how I might best be able to help you achieve that vision. We will go over the contract and discuss my fees at this time.

Prenatal Visits
My husband and I will meet with you and your partner 1-2 more times.  This time will be used to create an individualized birth plan, discuss any fears both of you may have, and answer any questions.

Unlimited Phone Calls and Emails
We are available throughout your pregnancy for both of you to answer questions or just talk.

24 Hour On Call Availability
I am available 24/7 during your on-call time, which starts two weeks before your due date and continues until you go into labor.

Labor Support
While your nurses and doctor/midwife may come and go, I am with you continuously throughout your labor and birth
to help you hold and move towards the vision you created for your baby’s birth.

Initial Postpartum
After the birth of your new little one, I will stay for up to 2 hours postpartum. I will help to establish breastfeeding successfully, baby care, helping mom and dad get comfortable, and if desired, call all those waiting to hear the news.

Postpartum Visits
I usually make the first visit in the hospital the next day to help with any breastfeeding concerns and make sure mama is healing well. We will then set up a time for me (my husband also if desired) to visit you at home within one week of coming home (don’t worry about the mess!).  I want to
ensure breastfeeding has been well established, answer any questions and discuss concerns, and give you tips and tricks to help with frustrations.  However, I'm also available by phone almost anytime.

Surgical Birth

If your birth experience expectedly/unexpectedly turns into a surgical birth, you will have extra time for your postpartum care home visit.

Daddy-to-be
My husband is there to support him through unlimited emails and phone calls up to labor and during the postpartum time.  The emotional roller coaster of labor is not the mother's alone.  I can help the father in taking away the pressure of being the "coach" leaving him free to experience the intimate, amazing wonder that is the birth of a new child.  I am there to help him be as participatory as he desires.
A doula should never take the place of the father or make Dad feel less important in any way.  If you aren’t sure what that looks like, read this article about the myths surrounding dads and doulas.   If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

If there is another service that you have thought about I am more than happy to negotiate that with you.

Your investment for this service is $395.  I require a retainer fee ($150) at the time of booking and the balance ($245) is due two weeks before your due date unless other arrangements have been made. **I think everyone should be able to have a doula; therefore I am happy to create a payment plan, or negotiate services for a discounted rate (especially if you qualify for OHP or WIC).**
